Legal with restrictions
DC law permits adults 21 or older to possess up to two ounces, transfer up to one ounce without payment, and grow six plants at a principal residence (three mature), subject to a twelve-plant household cap. General adult-use sales remain unlawful, and the FY 2026 congressional appropriations rider blocks the District from funding recreational legalization; licensed medical retailers may sell and deliver to registered patients, including adults 21+ who self-certify.
